Only pack what you really need. You will feel every ounce of useless gear on your back after a few miles, and unused items only clutter your tent.

STEPS TO EARNING MERIT BADGES INDEPENDENTLY
Many merit badges can be earned fully or partially by attending troop activities.
A Scout can also earn merit badges independently by following these steps:
Contact the Scoutmaster to let her know you would like to start a merit badge, and she will provide with names of Merit Badge Counselors
Contact the Merit Badge Counselor to discuss the requirements and your plans.
Complete the requirements.
Contact the Merit Badge Counselor to get your blue card signed off.
You will recieve your merit badge patch a t the next Court of Honor ceremony.
