• Only pack what you really need. You will feel every ounce of useless gear on your back after a few miles, and unused items only clutter your tent.

STEPS TO EARNING MERIT BADGES INDEPENDENTLY

Many merit badges can be earned fully or partially by attending troop activities.

A Scout can also earn merit badges independently by following these steps:

• • • Contact the Scoutmaster to let her know you would like to start a merit badge, and she will provide with names of Merit Badge Counselors

    • Contact the Merit Badge Counselor to discuss the requirements and your plans.

    • Complete the requirements.

    • Contact the Merit Badge Counselor to get your blue card signed off.

    • You will recieve your merit badge patch a t the next Court of Honor ceremony.
